Minioso Akitas was Established in 1999 and are owned and adored by Lisa Goldy and Colin Humphries. Our 1st introduction to Akitas was our old girl 'Roxy' closely followed by our old boy 'Storm' both have excellent temperaments and superb breed qualities.
For years we had been ringside watching the Akitas, but in 2003 we started showing our own dogs with 'Amadar Take A Chance on Me at Minioso' being our first. In 2004 we purchased our foundation bitch 'Tameka' and in August 04 she made her show debut at six months of age. Tameka made a wonderful start to her show career and at Crufts 2005 did us proud by taking Best Puppy Bitch under the well respected Judge Mrs. Jenny Killilea (Redwitch).
In 2006 Tameka produced her 1st litter of seven puppies, from this litter five of the puppies qualified for Crufts 2008. Both males from this litter have had excellent show careers, both winning Best Puppy Dog awards at Championship level, one of them (Billy) taking a Best Puppy In Breed at the Welsh Kennel Club. Amongst all the puppies they have several 1st places, Best Of Breeds, Best Puppy and Group awards. A Best Puppy In Show and a Reserve Best In Show.
2008 has been a fabulous year for the Minioso dogs, our homebred Tameka baby, Thomas gained his 1st Reserve CC at the Nationals, and our stunning male Chance has gained a Reserve Best Dog In Show at the Akita Club of Wales and more recently was awarded his 1st CC with BOS at Driffield under hugely respected Judge, Mrs Jenny Killilea (Redwitch).
2009 has started with a bang, with Thomas gaining his 1st CC with BOS, and Chance taking the Res CC at Manchester. Later in the year we celebrated our first Champion in the Minioso Kennels 'Ch. Rossimon Norfolk and Chance with Minioso' took his 3rd and crowning CC with BOB and Group 4. Not letting the side down, our home bred son of Chance and Tameka has already been awarded 5 Best Puppy Dog, 4 Best Puppy In Breed, A Best Puppy In Show, Best In Show and a Reserve CC, all before 10 months of age. His litter sister 'Inka' has also been awarded her 1st CC.
We breed only when we want something for the show ring, and although confirmation and breed type are important to us, temperament should be of paramount importance in a breeding program. All of our Akitas are well socialised and have amazing temperaments which shows in our puppies. We welcome anyone into our home via appointment to view the dogs and get to know this wonderful breed. |
